Social Services
Child Care Services
Child Care services can help pay for care for children while
parents/guardians are
working, in an approved training or education program, or participating in
a JOBS activity. Childcare may be used for children birth to thirteen
years or up to eighteen if there is a serious medical or psychological problem. The
cost to the parent/guardian for this program is based on income and
family size. Children may attend any licensed child care center
or Type B child care home provider. Friends or relatives may be eligible
to be certified as the child care provider in some circumstances.

Type B Certifications
Type B certifications are completed by our staff. We certify
individuals and their homes as meeting certain criteria to enable them to
provide child care services. Home provider's certificates are renewed
annually. Some of the criteria include a working telephone, criminal record
check , and a limit of six children in the home at any one time. In some
cases, we can provide items to help meet the criteria such as port-a cribs, fire
extinguishers, etc.

Information and Referral Services
We can refer you to services available in the community and/or provide
information to you on the services that are available. We can also provide
information on services that can help with serious emergencies.
Information ranging from where to donate good used clothing to getting help installing a wheelchair ramp or an emergency supply of food is
available.

Enhanced Medicaid Transportation

to a friend or relative who drives the recipient to appointments. We can
also arrange for a transportation service to take the recipient to the medical
appointment, including appointments outside of Hancock County.
